I just published my book titled “SCREAM: Chilling Adventures in the Science of Fear.”
Writing & Research
Most of my professional writing has been a means of communicating research findings. However, my true passion lies in integrating research with personal stories and narrative — really engaging the sociological imagination. The central theme throughout all my writing and research has been to understand how we define and construct ideas of normalcy. I am also the co-investigator on a first-of-its-kind study looking at emotions as they are experienced in the real world by collecting psychophysiology data measuring how the brain and body respond in everyday and extraordinary situations (for example haunted attractions and paranormal investigations). Check out my interview at Hidden Brain, and Science Friday.
